The vision for Volvo Group is to be the most desired and successful transport and infrastructure solution provider in the world. We don’t sell trucks and machines: we operate the solutions through the full life cycle to maximize the improvements achievable through autonomy.

That goes hand in hand with our long-term ambitions: 100% Safe, 100% Fossil free and 100% more productive. The automation of our vehicles is seen as a natural step towards reaching that goal. Joining the Volvo Group means contributing to a large global company that is transforming itself towards these ambitions. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, fostering a team culture where differences are seen as a steppingstone to better results.

Welcome to the team

Imagine a future where trucks and machines are driving around without a physical operator in the cab. Normal operation is completely autonomous, and vehicles are stopping automatically for electrical charging. Everything is under surveillance from a central control room, where operators can teleoperate vehicles based on video feedback when needed. This will change people’s daily work environment and eliminate dangerous work conditions.
Sounds fantastic, doesn’t it? You now have the chance to join the team and make this a reality!

The Connectivity team is a part of the Technology organization and the Offboard services domain at Volvo Autonomous Solutions. Our mission is to develop connectivity solutions that form the foundation of autonomous operations. This involves connecting autonomous machines and trucks, ensuring secure communication between control room systems and vehicles, and enabling remote connectivity to site.

We believe in the power of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and mutual support. Your future colleagues are eager to welcome you aboard and join forces as we work towards our goal of bringing autonomous transportsystems to life.

What will you be working with?
In this role we are seeking a network architect that will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams within Product, Solution, Technology and Digital & IT to understand business needs and translate them into scalable and efficient network solutions.

You will, among other responsibilities, manage the network architecture and its documentation.

Additionally, you'll be involved in project implementations at both test and customer sites, from conception to completion. Your role will also entail developing network policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and best practices. Furthermore, you'll provide support for existing implementations when needed. Your team colleagues work with all fields of connectivity, such as hardware, spectrum, legislation, cellular network etc.

In line with all our positions, this role entails active participation in continuously improving our work processes. You'll be encouraged to dream big, embrace failure as part of innovation, and consistently invest time in personal development.

Who are you?

Since we don’t know you yet, we are not exactly sure about who you are. However, we believe that you have in-depth knowledge of networking protocols, technologies, and standards —such as TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, and SD-WAN. Additionally, a strong understanding of network security principles and best practices is expected. Followed by hands-on experience with network hardware, including routers, switches and firewalls, and proficient in network monitoring and management tools.

What’s most important of all, is who you are as a person. We believe you have a structured approach and are eager to learn new things and constantly develop your skills, as we are working with new technology and in a field where everything and anything is available for discovery. You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative mindset. You can be a senior network architect or a curious, driven person with a lot of hands-on experience with networks.

You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent. You are proficient in English, both written and spoken.

A merit is experience from agile methods from working in international and multicultural environments.

Are we a match?

We offer you a chance to be involved in defining the future solutions within the transport and infrastructure industry. We make the future of automated transport solutions happen.
